About me

Marieke van de geer

I believe that real change begins with learning to be gentle with yourself

My name is Marieke van de Geer. I work as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Verpleegkundig Specialist GGZ) and support people who long for movement, depth, and healing. My style is personal, gentle, and clear. In my work, I combine professional knowledge with life experience, intuition, and a deep trust in the self-healing capacity of each person.

My path in mental health care began as a nurse. During those years, I learned to truly stand beside people – both literally and figuratively – especially in times of crisis, whether physical or emotional. I learned to stay present with my calm Self: with clarity, stillness, and compassion, even when the other was overwhelmed. Those intense years gave me a clear way of communicating and a deep sensitivity to what people need – beyond words.

Over time, I continued my development through various trainings, including becoming a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, EMDR therapist, and ACT practitioner. In my personal life, I encountered mindfulness and yoga, which helped me stay present with more softness – with whatever arose within me: thoughts, emotions, sensations – even the uncomfortable. These experiences gave me space for my own healing and still serve as an important source in my work.

I have completed training as a Psychedelic Assisted Therapist at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI) and the Experiential Training Institute (ETI). These programs deeply enriched my understanding that multiple states of consciousness exist—and that every person carries an inner capacity for healing. In addition, I have completed the IFS Level 1 training and further specialized in body-oriented and experiential approaches.

What clients often appreciate is the space that’s allowed for everything that arises: thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, silences, patterns, and desires. There is no need to force anything – we move with what unfolds. This takes courage, and at the same time, it often opens the very path toward change and healing.

I work with people who are looking for something beyond a standard approach – those who want to feel, explore, experience, and learn to trust what has always been within. I also support people who feel stuck in work or life and are searching for renewed meaning and direction.

In addition to my work in regular mental health care, I offer coaching, couples therapy, and retreats. You can read more about my work with psychedelic processes and integration at www.roothwize.nl.
